Maybe I'm an idiot but I thought the pictures and description were misleading. OK, so I looked at the pictures and I scanned the written description and thought this clock was what I wanted. Sure looked to me like you plug in the USB cord to charge it up then once it was charged up you put the clock where you want it. Even had some disposable batteries to provide back-up power when the on-board battery died. Well, that was totally wrong. This is a clock that needs to be plugged into the wall all the time. Unplug it and it turns off. It has no internal battery. The AAA batteries don't power the clock. They are there to remember the time so that you don't have to reset the clock when you unplug it. Anyway, I was looking for a battery-operated clock which this one is not. Returned it.
