I've used a Tommy Bahama beach umbrella for the last 3 years without any problems. The built in sand anchor always screws into the sand nicely and holds really well. In late June I noticed a slight bend in one of the umbrella supports and tried to straighten it. It broke almost immediately. No worries, I splinted it and ordered a new replacement. The new model of this umbrella barely lasted a month before the sand screw which is now hollow or much weaker plastic than before twisted into an unusable shape rather than dig into the sand. The umbrella arms are now thin wire rods instead of aluminum bars. The old model head leather pockets for the bars to seat into. The new one does not. The handles for turning the lower pole into the sand are so low now that you need to get on your knees to get it done. All in all I'm not happy with the changes made to what was once a fine product.
