The visuals here are great, which I would expect from a DK publication. However, either DK or the Smithsonian took this book as an opportunity to slip in some out of place facts. Example: there's a section on "Fun and Festivals" that talks about things like the first zoo, Mayan festivals, Carnival, etc. So far so good. Then toward the modern time, there's a section on "Pride" festivals. I did a double take because in the thousands of years of human history, that hardly seems like something important enough to call out here.
