Out of the box, you can tell the cheap quality of the rod. Handle was too short & grip is uncomfortable. VERY top heavy. Reel locking system hard to assemble due to low quality material & it wobble pretty bad. Casting was not great. Flex is non existent. To be honest, this cannot even beat my $15 1st rod from Dicks Sport. Not sure why this rod got so many good review. Glad I tried it out before give one for my dad as gift. Overall disappointed. On the bright note, I did love the mobility of telescopic rod. I also bought the newer version of this rod, and so far, did not have a chance to go fishing with it yet. But its significantly lighter, better quality and seem to have more flex.
