First things first, this product does indeed provide a tight shave which hugs the face /head very nicely. I purchased this with the intent of using it on my head every few days as to eliminate multiple razor shaves. This unit comes closest to the feel of an actual razor shave, as compared to other electric razors. However, it takes some time to get the angle/pressure correct to get as close as possible. I've only used this on my head, so I can't speak knowledably about how it will perform on other areas. Cleaning is also very easy as the unit breaks down simply, and a cleaning brush is provided. I've found performance is optimal if I stop and clean it out once or twice while using, depending on length of hair at time of use. I wouldn't suggest this for a person in the habit of letting stubble get too long between shaves, as it didn't perform well for me under said conditions. Now here comes the rub: it broke! That's right, just when I thought I had a solid product that filled my grooming gap it bought the farm. I had made two passes on my head when I heard a very different sound than had been produced prior, and upon inspection one of the cutting arms had snapped off. I'm not shocked something broke, however I am surprised how quickly it broke, in terms of usages amd length of ownership. I've had this unit for roughly a month a half, and in that time I've used it three times, the fourth being time of failure. Evidently this type of failure occurs more frequently than not, as the part that broke is available as a stand alone purchase item. In fairness, I would imagine that Wahl anticipates part failure over a certain amount of time, given that replacement parts are available. Considering the price of the product, I would rather purchase replacement parts (approximately $17 on Amazon) than be forced to replace the unit as a whole. I'm going to return the product to Wahl and work through their warranty program in the hopes of being made whole at no extra expense. I will update this review as necessary based on the outcome of that situation.
