Don't Bother
The review of this book in the Wall Street Journal was promising. Readers would learn how the Ancient Greek notion of civic virtue was replaced by the Madisonian approach. The first thirteen chapters are a ho hum review of early American history---showing the embrace of classical thinking by the founders. In Chapter Fourteen we learn that the classical approach no longer guides American thinking. The final chapter, which is titled an "Epilogue," is a sophomoric, ideological diatribe on what we can do to fix a country that caved to its baser instincts and elected Donald Trump.
