My original review was removed because I stated this product was not authentic. I won't claim it is not authentic but I will review my experience. I purchased this item to replaced an existing genuine apple cord that my dog had chewed up. I received the item and based on the packaging it appears genuine. The chord itself had an odd smell to it, which I have never experienced with any apple products and there was a long black hair wrapped into it, again something I have never experienced with an apple product. The material itself appeared more porous than all the other apple cords I have and had a slight tactile difference. To contrast this experience, after I returned this cord, I bought a new one in person off the shelf at the apple store. The cord I purchased there had an extra sealing sticker on the packaging that the one from Amazon did not. It also did not smell odd, the cord was smoother and not as porous and the packaging did not contain any hair of any kind. Again, I am not claiming the one from Amazon is not genuine, it is just different than the one I had previously and the new one I purchased from apple. Do with that information what you will.
