Update: March 1 2018 I had not used the one unit I kept for quite some time so I tried again. I cannot reduce my star rating to zero so it stands at one. After spending a little more time with this I can even say the picture quality is even worse on this device than I first reported. This is do not purchase unless you don't care about video quality or speed of navigation of various apps. ============= This is not an upgrade if you have a full-size Fire TV Gen 2. I was hopeful with the new chip, so hopeful in fact I bought 3. I returned two, and will use one in a location I don't use often. I primarily use Fire TV to use the Playstation Vue live linear TV app, and I am happy with how it works on the Fire TV gen 2. This unit was an immediate fail from the moment that application opened. When you use the guide you can no longer scroll through the guide rapidly, there is the "push the button to move and wait for the screen to draw" effect. The interface was not the only disappointment I noticed. For some reason the video output quality is not there either. I can not say if it was just this service or all services, but it was in fact noticeable testing on a Samsung 4K TV with both units set to the same video settings under display. The Playstation Vue TV app is very high bandwidth, and that might have something to do with it and something like Netflix might be OK but I suspect higher bandwidth HLS/DASH encodings might not be handled as well. I bought three of them because I really thought it was an update to what I have been using. I do not know if this is an Amlogic chip problem, or a software problem, but the way it performed for me it was not acceptable. (on a side note I did replace to two I sent back with two Fire TV gen 2 boxes just in case they become hard to find I have extras)
