Longtime Lifeproof Customer Disappointed
Unfortunately, I wish I could give this product more stars, but I struggled to even give it 2. I have used a LifeProof case on my phone for years, and waited anxiously for the 6 plus, I didn't want to review the product too early, so after 2 months of consistent use here I am. I will start out with the good: the case looks great! I was so excited to get it because I wanted the back rose gold color to shine through a transparent case, which was achieved. It is also very thin, and hardly increases the size of the phone. There we go, those are the only positive things I have to say. These were the downfalls, and I hate to be detailed, but this is just my experience and I want other people to beware given the high price on the item, and the USUAL fantastic quality of LifeProof products: 1. Audio Output: I would say my volume output from my speakers decreased by half. I understand that some is to be expected when you want a very sealed case, but it many cases if there is any surround noise I can't hear it at all. 2. Audio Input: I, for some reason, cannot hold my phone on my left ear because no one can ever hear me they say the sound is too muffled. The right ear is still incredibly muffled, but useable. Again, I attribute this to the mesh they put over the speaker holes to prevent water from getting in - unfortunately I use the audio on my phone a lot more than I go swimming with it. 3. Charging Port - The hole for the charger is exactly the size for iPhone chargers, and will not fit any off brand chargers. Since apple charges split wires every 4 months of daily use I have to use off-brand. This limited me to only have one charger to use while the case was on, since all my others were longer off brand ones. Additionally, the part that covers the charging port was so difficult to get to pop off, multiple times in had to use my teeth to open it - it actually left teeth marks on the back rubber part. 4. Thumbprint - The hole in the case that goes over the thumbprint is not a complete circle and blocks off the top of the thumbprint reader. While initially I didn't think this would be a big deal, and I even re-did all of my prints with the case on (which was very difficult because it couldn't read the top part), it still only will read my thumbprint 25% of the time because it cuts off the top of all my prints. 5. Screen is not protected - I was shocked when I opened up my case to find there is no protective screen included in the case. They do give you one of the stick-on plastic scratch resistant covers, but if my phone were to drop and hit a corner of something it would be shattered. Also, because of how they did the seal around the screen, you cannot add a glass screen protector on top of it, or the case won't fit correctly. 6. Front Camera - The hole for the front camera is so small and so deep that it is EXTREMELY difficult to clean. I actually have to use a small q tip to clean it, and then am left with fibers on it. Given all of these things, I have decided to order a different phone case (I won't cross promote) for $30 that comes with a warranty, that is water proof tested, and I can buy a class front to go on so that my screen is completely protected and the audio is clear. Wish I could have stayed true to LifeProof, but I really don't think I could have been more disappointed with this product.
