Charles Dickens? Are you sure
I have been a reader of Charles Dickens for over 40 years. I read G.K. Chesterton's illuminating biography and criticism of his novels. I feel that I know him pretty well, and love his novels dearly. Charles Dickens was a deeply moral man, tried to address man's immoral nature and lack of love his neighbor. He wasn't perfect but he understood the power of grace and forgiveness. Most of all he was a humorist, and insightful. He was not a schizophrenic with no sense of reality, nor was as he utilitarian as this film betrays. This film is not uplifting or gives a side Dickens whose writing showed a love for the essential good that springs from a righteous indignation. I'm glad Hollywood has never wanted to write my biography. I am sure I would have never recognized myself. Uplifting movie! Hardly!
