Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I find reviews after having a product for a while are the most useful, so... Bought the shredder in July, 2017. After a year, one of the wheel gears failed. A friend of mine is an engineer, and offered to pull it apart to see if he could fix; he cleared the gears in case of paper gunk-jam, and put it back together successfully. It's fine electrically, but it still failed again after one successful paper shred post-fix. 40 bucks isn't enough to warrant much more investigation frustration, so we considered a fail a fail. I'll invest a bigger dollar amount with my next shredder, with a good warranty. Save your cheddar on this, though. I'm actually bummed; it did exactly what I needed it to do for a full year. I guess I was hoping to at least get a few years out of it; most of the Amazon Basics products are pretty darn solid. If you're looking for a long-term solution, this isn't the one.
