Too delicate for a vacuum cleaner
These Shark Navigators are a little too top heavy, and they are especially easy to tip over. Just using the attachments, if you're not careful, you can pull this thing over, and it will fall on it's back (it doesn't take much force - this will happen with normal usage). That would not be a problem except that the tank inlet elbow will break when the unit is pulled over - especially if there is some weight in the canister when it falls. It's a very good vacuum in that it really works well, but it is too delicate. There is plastic where there should be metal. The repair parts necessary to fix this aren't available for purchase from shark. You can't buy the elbow. You can't buy the plastic clip. You either have to send the unit in for warranty repair if you can, if it's covered, or just buy a new vacuum. This is our second one of these vacuums. The first one lasted about two months before it tipped over and the elbow broke. This one broke within one month after we purchased it. Look at the attached pictures. You can see that this is a potentially significant point of failure, and it's difficult to get repair or replacement parts. If this elbow were better reinforced it probably would not be an issue. As far as functionality goes, this is a great vacuum cleaner - just too delicate.
