**An update has been added at the end** I have a small space and I needed something small and portable that I could tuck away when not in use. I decided on this model, ordered it and received it in two days. Opened it, set it up and nothing...dead out of the box. I called Crosley and they said they would have a tech call in 4-5 business days! I hung up and called Amazon...no problem, we'll send you another one. I had the new one by the next business day with no hassle, thanks Amazon for the great customer service. I still haven't heard from the Crosley tech! The second turntable works as expected. It's perfect for what I need. Does it sound like an expensive or fancy stereo system? No, but I didn't buy it expecting it to. That's like comparing apples to oranges. If I had the space I would certainly opt for something more substantial but, I don't. I've played about 30 records on it so far with no problems. On some of the older records or poorly mixed records, I have to crank the sound a bit but I have it sitting downstairs and I can hear it when I go upstairs (having a small house probably has something to do with that though). I personally think albums recorded and pressed in the 60s, 70s and 80s sound best on this system. The few new records I have tend to be a bit noisy especially with headphones. I haven't tried the included software yet so I can't tell you if it works or not. It wasn't a feature I was interested in when choosing this system but I suppose it's nice to have the option. So far, I'm happy with the purchase. It's perfect for anyone who doesn't have a lot of space but still wants to listen to their vinyl. **UPDATE: After using the unit for roughly a month, records started skipping. Every album I put on (records that have played flawlessly previously) skipped! I wasn't expecting a mind blowing player but I would have liked to have gotten at least a year out of it. Thankfully, I was still in my return window so I sent it back and I'm awaiting the arrival of an Audio Technica which I hope will give me better results. While the Crosley was portable and fit my small space perfectly, it turned out to be a major disappointment. When it worked it was great and sounded decent enough, especially hooked up to a pair of Bose speakers. I've changed my rating from a 4 star rating to a 2 star rating. I chose 2 stars because if you can get a unit that doesn't give out on you, it's a great little player for those with a lack of space and for those who don't want a whole multi-piece component system. But, after having two failures, I'd say skip it, save yourself the headache and pick a different player. Oh, and FYI, the Crosley tech who was supposed to call me in 4-5 business days when the first unit was dead out of the box, well, they still haven't contacted me!
