As MANY people here mentioned, the cleaning system is a piece of crap. After just a few brews (with filtered water), the "clean" light came on. I said, ok, let's clean it then. Used a descaling agent as indicated and the light went off. A month after the light came back on... to make a long story short, each time the light came back on even faster. At this point, I clean the machine and the next pot you brew it goes back on. Neither white vinegar nor descaling solution have any effect. Since this has been described as the first symptom before the machine starts breaking and brewing badly, I called customer service. After all, many people said they had good service. I can testify that the service I got was nothing even remotely like good. The VERY rude lady that came on the phone would not let me speak or explain the problem and became dismissive as soon as I started mentioning the problem. I guess they have been instructed to not accept ANY complaints on this matter since I imagine Ninja must be loosing money on these evidently defective machines. She would simply not let me speak and kept saying that maybe the machine's sensors were dirty and that might never go away and they would do nothing about it. Let me say it again: SHE WOULD NOT EVEN LET ME SPEAK. Finally she basically chased me off the call. I could not believe that ANY company could have such horrible customer service. I'm still in disbelief. I'll have to guesstimate how/when to clean it and throw it away once the coffee starts brewing bad. I thought I was buying a quality product, not a disposable $165 piece of crap. Do yourself a favor and deal with a company with some quality standards and some reputation. These people are thieves.
