Does no better than vacuum based systems
I don’t know if it’s just that our corks don’t reseal or if the system just doesn’t work. Using one of the vacu-vin style systems wine lasts a few days after it’s been opened. With this system we’re at 5 days after the first taste and be wine has already started to taste like it’s going bad - not much better than the vacu-vin that doesn’t require expensive refills. To add some more detail: We release a puff of argon prior to stabbing the cork. We go in small bursts like their videos say to and then when we're done we pull the needle back out. After 2-3 days the wine tastes like we've had it under vacuum for a day. By the one week mark it's getting iffy on whether it's worth trying to enjoy it. Past a week and it's cooking wine only. I used a good bottle of wine the first time, now I'm using cheap bottles of wine that I have extras of...which is a waste of the argon canister trying to experiment. Otherwise, instructions in the box are just pictograms. Nothing about whether I need to put argon in before pulling the needle, of if I need to store it on its side (I do). Their website is just as useless too. To be honest, I suspect I'll return this and instead get either a nitrotap or the Private Preserve True 1026. The 1026 seems A LOT cheaper - open a bottle, keep it upright and display the oxygen in the wine bottle. The Coravin seemed appealing since I could potentially "open" multiple wines without ruining them, but to be fair that isn't something we do with wine very often.
