Hope you don't need it to work with anything other than Powerpoint....
I bought the R400 under the impression that it was a simple presenter that would work in any program that used left or right arrow keys to progress the slides, photos, etc. Logitech, however, decided to use the PageUp and PageDown keys as the basis of its forward and backward buttons for the R400. Meaning, any program you have that uses the left or right arrow keys, this remote does not work with it. I just don't get why, of all the key bindings Logitech could choose to use, they went with PageUp/Down instead of the Left/Right arrow keys. I wanted this for Powerpoint, yes, but primarily for Adobe Lightroom. I'd pull up a gallery in Lightoom, give my client the presenter/clicker, and have them go through the photos at their own speed while we talked about them. My previous no-name, 5 year old cheap clicker worked great for this until it died. Well, in Lightroom, the Left/Right arrow keys go forward/backward one photo at a time while PageUp/Down goes forward/backward 12 at a time. I figured there must be some way to customize this key binding, some software or tweak from Logitech that I could download to change it. Nope. On every support question on their website where people asked how to change the buttons, their response was that you can't change the key bindings and this presenter is only certified to work with Microsoft PowerPoint. Well where is that on the product page? That's not mentioned even ONE time! This presenter has limited usefulness now (only good for Powerpoint), and as such, is not worth the money I paid for it. If Logitech would have made clear how this worked or what it was compatible with, I would have looked for something else. Instead, I now have to spend more money to buy something else that actually works with more than one program. Seriously, WHY choose an infrequently used key over one that is used almost universally. Even Powerpoint uses the arrows keys to go forward/backward. If your singe, SOLE use for this presenter is Powerpoint, it works great, I guess. If there might be ANY other program you MAY EVER want to use this with, find something else. EDIT: And just so no one thinks I am being unreasonable, on my quest to find another presenter, while looking through plenty of other product descriptions, they all either include a picture detailing which button does what (pageup, etc.) or they list it in the description. And the cheapo $10 one I bought DinoFire Wireless Presenter, RF 2.4GHz PowerPoint Clicker Presentation Remote (Black) uses PageUp/Down, but it has way to toggle to use the arrow keys instead. So a $10 pointer can do it but Logitech's 4x more expensive one can't?
