Fun, but now dominated by hackers
The game is extremely fun, but I warn you of the following:
THE GOOD
This is a very fun game, with many active players. Many clans that are looking for new players, and some that like to RP their wolf also.
THE BAD
You will die a lot as a pup. Do not be discouraged! Do not start flaming high level players who were once pups too! Level up, and one day you will be top dog! ;)
THE (VERY) UGLY - MANY HACKERS ONLINE AND WHY ONE STAR REVIEW.
There are 3 types of hackers in this game: positive, negative and immortal
When you kill a positive hacker, you will get BILLIONS of points; unfortunately, you will also get reset or sent to "hacker hell" as it is called in game by players. Many players are being reset after spending months of time leveling their wolves, and legit players have no way of knowing who is hacking in advance.
Next, you have Negative Hackers. When you kill them, you lose BILLIONS of points. Many players that accidentally kill a negative player pretty much cry for help. They go from area to area, begging for positive hackers in chat to fix their status or are forced to restart from scratch.
Finally, you have immortal hackers. They come as low level with billions of stat points (which is impossible for normal player), or they come as a max level crowned wolf. Either way, unless you are a hacker you are dead. They kill even the strongest legit players in 1 bite. Some of them like to pretend they bought the points legally from the store, but it takes quite literally thousands upon thousands of dollars to kill an buffed, max wolf in one bite.
Wolf Online is a fun game, but I am starting to lose interest because of the hacker situation. I did spend points once because I wanted to support the developer as I spent several months raising my wolf and having fun with other players. Other players have spent hundreds of dollars, only to be reset to nothing because they ran into a hacker.
Since its free, you can try it... but in its current form do not spend money to buy points. You are going to run into a positive hacker, kill them, get reset by a GM, and lose everything. You are going to run into negative hackers, kill them, and lose all the points you spent money on. Immortals really don't bother me as much, as I got picked on a lot as pup anyway. LOL. You have been warned! IF a player played everyday for maybe six months, they might be able to get a stat to 600-ish. See the attached screenshot of what an immortal hacker looks like when they boast online.
If the hacker situation can be resolved, I would gladly update my review and give this game a much higher rating. Right now, I don't really feel like the developers are taking the environment created in the game seriously as it is overrun with hackers right now.
