Dangerous to use with 15 amp breakers/14 gauge wiring
The Lasko 755320 Ceramic Tower Heater has no thermostat function when set to low power. This is not detailed or mentioned on the product page. I found out after unpacking it and reading the manual. The maximum safe total load on one 15 amp circuit is 1440 watts even though a 15 amp circuit is rated at 1800 watts. This is because of the "80% Factor" being used to calculate the actual safe total load on one circuit. To operate a 1500 watts safely one needs a 20 amp breaker circuit and 12 gauge house wiring. Many homes such as mine have 15 amp breakers and 14 gauge wire which has a maximum safe total load rating of 120v 1440 watts. If it is set low 860-900 watts no more than 500 watts of additional load can be added to a single 15 amp circuit and there will be no thermostat.
NOTE: THIS HEATER SHOULD BE THE ONLY ITEM USED ON A SINGLE 15 AMP CIRCUIT AND WILL HAVE NO THERMOSTAT FUNCTION ON THE LOW SETTING!
I returned it and ordered the Lasko 5307 which has a manual thermostat that works on both high and low setting. It should only be used on a 15 amp circuit on low setting with no more additional items added totaling added over 500 watts.
The number one cause of house fires is due to space heaters because of electrical circuit overload and/or tipping over without tip over auto shutdown. Neither of these heaters have tip over auto shutoff.
