Buy with Caution if Doing Curbside Pickup
As others have stated, Amazon/Whole Foods clearly pushes off the unwanted, paltry tail pieces to their Prime members who order for pickup or delivery. This is a bait and switch, as the photo even shows lovely center-cut portions. When I go into the store, I always am given the wonderful center-cut pieces--not these horrible tail pieces. And, of course, Amazon has no place to add a note to the shopper when placing your order to request the center cut pieces.
I will give it ONE more try. But if I get stuck with these crappy, awful tail-end pieces again, I am canceling my Prime Membership. The only reason I signed up for Prime was to be able to get curbside pickup during the pandemic.
UPDATE, FEB. 9, 2021:
THIS BAD FISH TAIL IS NO FISH TALE
Something fishy keeps happening with online center cut salmon portion orders. And I fear it is turning me into an Amazon crab.
You see, I’ve been involved in multiple games of “bait and switch” followed by “catch and release.” The mouth-watering, meaty, gorgeous center-cut portions beckon from the website. I’m hooked.
I take the bait.
I click.
I patiently wait for my in-store Amazon angler to net the prized portions.
Oh, wait; there it is! The hook is bobbing and my order is ready!
I drive to the store to reel it in.
But, alas, the catch is not the o-fish-al center cut portions, but rather paltry, mushy, smushy tail pieces.
Who doth beat and dismember the beauteous salmon? Who switches the center portions for the tattered tails? Could it be the Rod Father?
To be fair, Amazon offers to refund the tailpieces. But I don’t want a refund for something I end up using as compost anyway. As evidenced by my former fishing expeditions, noted in my earlier review, this is not the first time this has happened. At first I thought perhaps good things come to those who “bait” and believed any fin was possible if I just called the store and spoke to a human to specifically ask for the center-cut portions (even though those were what was advertised all along on the site) . Then, perhaps,I would make a good catch.
But, alas; when you go salmon fishing online at Whole Foods, what ends up on the other end of the fishing line is not what you were planning to catch. Hence, I can only say, “Catch ya later,” as I will no longer be ordering the salmon from Amazon. Other stores deliver your catch curbside, and that “catch” is exactly what you went fishing for.
Sorry. Just keepin’ it "reel".
