A solid radio as long as you are only talking to other Midland users. But if you are talking with folks using other brand radios and wanting to use the repeater function, you will likely find you are missing parts of the conversation. Midland is aware of this but indicated that since I had my radio more than 30 days before I discovered the problem (I happened to have another radio that continued to transmit the audio when the Midland wasn't), I was stuck with it. The customer representative I talked with said "This is our first rodeo with this type radio." This is not the product or service I would expect from this company.
