★★☆☆☆
Every manufacture purposely designs their product to waste label material, toner and ink.
On this P-touch CUBE a minimum I would say 50% to 100% of the label material can never be used and wasted. In this case they feel you should have at least 1 inch of blank label before and after your 1 inch wide text that you print. (3 inches total to have the 1 inch text fit…) Even if whatever your are labeling is less than 2 inches. Laser printers are another, counting each color as being used as one print even if you are only printing in Monochrome. I can’t tell you how many full cartridges I had to toss. I’m self employed and engineer & design a lot of product. The mentality of these companies designing a product that purposely takes advantage of the customer kills me! …and it’s not that it’s not even obvious. I could never have the wherewithal to do this to a customer wanting to purchase my product(s). The nice thing is the ability to use an app to design labels from your phone. But of course the minimal length setting in the app is an issue. So where does this decision take place? Is it in just an office meeting as simple as “Hey Harry, can you have it so on this label maker have the label spacing and something in the software to waste, I mean not have the customer have the ability to use an average of 63.4% of the label material. We over produced some of the label material this quarter and I believe we still need to recoup from the original label design that we did 12 years ago…” Wink Wink.. “And now those printer ink cartridges…”
