FIND OUT THE TRUTH IN LABELLING......
The directions attached to the very short cord (approximately 14”) say in no uncertain terms NOT to use an extension cord. As a degreed Electrical Engineer I can understand that but I can’t fathom how all the 5 Stair raters failed to mention how they complied with that without affixing a new outlet to the edge of their birdbaths. Hopefully the maker of this can provide some further clarification. Don’t know about longevity yet because I just put it IN WITH A 50’EXTENSION CORD and a “waterproof” connector. We shall see if it catches fire overnight....at least it’s 50’ away from the house and under ~2” of water!
I must revise and extend my remarks.... the page of instructions that came (EXTERNAL to the device) DOES say to use a grounded extension cord BUT the white label actually attached to the short cord itself says NOT to use one. I’d still like to have clarification from the manufacturer or from AMAZON!
