I don't hate them, but it's time to move on
tl;dr: use insoles. soles collect gunk. lasts 5 months, tops. I bought these for work. Look, I work in a kitchen and I'm on my feet anywhere from 8 to why am I still here thirty, so I'm pretty critical on shoes. I've had all kinds of kitchen shoes over the years. Most of them do pretty well (Berkies, Dansko) others, not so much ( Skecher, New Balance (?)). But they all eventually fail. Some it's the soles, some it's the insoles. The struggle is real. Things fall apart. Some things fall apart sooner than others and I guess that's what you pay for. I'm reviewing these now because there time is at an end. I wear them only at work. For work they are good. I read some reviews indicating they fit small to size, so I, like the genius I am, ordered a pair a half size larger and extra wide. Hey memory foam! Neat. I have a memory foam bed that his seriously comfortable. Nott so with these. The footbed under the thin memory foam portion is very stiff, and zero arch support. Since I was pretty thorough in my quest for comfort, I had also bought a few pair of insoles, for other shoes, and so forth. What?! Yes, I have other shoes. So, I immediately inserted the floppy insoles into the waiting stiff foot bed. With the right insoles in, for my arches, wearing them are a bit like walking on a cloud. A honeymoon cloud. My feet were in tawdry bliss of 11 hour days for a couple months, but then things took a turn for the worse, and a rut developed that showed itself as a persistent throbbing ache in the lower back area. Time for new insoles? The soles are great anti-slip. Also, they are great anti-clean. Any little thing gets stuck in the bristley rubber soles. In my line of work, that can get pretty gross, and they are hard to clean. Comfortably safe, yes. Easy to clean? Nah. If you're in a waxed linoleum / carpeted environment there wouldn't be a problem. They hold up fairly well, maybe that's because I keep them exclusively at work, and they get that Mr. Rogers experience. Based on the hard to clean aspect, and the stiff, flat, footbed, I wouldn't buy these again.
