I so rarely write bad reviews. I'm one of those people who feels that if you can't say something nice, you probably should keep your mouth shut. But I had to talk about these. I bought the Banza Chickpea Pasta - Penne at our local Wegman's yesterday and was very eager to try them out. We avoid grains in this house as much as possible and I was testing them out because my 12-year-old son (who was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 9) misses pasta more than anything else. I'm used to companies using packaging as "false advertising" concerning the volume of the product you will be receiving (cereals claiming "product may settle during shipping", etc.) in order to convince the consumer that they were not duped by getting less than they expected when they opened up the box, but this company really takes the cake. I was so surprised at the amount of pasta this box contained upon opening it that I immediately grabbed my phone and took some pictures, in spite of the fact that my water was boiling. There is a small cellophane window on the front of the box, and the amount of pasta seemed calculated to hit very slightly above there so it would look like more than it was…until you get home and open it, that is. I am used to seeing a new box being only 3/4 full. But this one? Slightly less than half. What ever happened to truth in packaging? If they made the box half the size it is, it would not only NOT irritate the customer, but would save money and the environment by using fewer resources. I gave it two stars instead of one because the pasta is decent. Not great, but not bad - and we love chickpeas - but the "tricky" packaging means I won't be buying from them again.
