After having used the machine maybe 10 times, the black plastic cap on the water reservoir became detached from itself, rendering the machine useless. In other words, the cap gets stuck and is impossible to remove. I contacted the manufacturer. They were familiar enough with the problem to send a replacement after I had to unplug and CUT THE ELECTRICAL CORD and send it to them I guess to show that I would no longer be using a defective product? I can't imagine it was for my safety. The same thing has now happened to the second machine. This time, I went to remove the water reservoir and it was nearly filled, so that water came splashing out all over the floor the night before guests were arriving. After 30 minutes on the phone with customer service in the Philippines (who will not provide me with the Grand Rapids HQ number) who were very polite and completely useless, all I got was an offer to send a new reservoir unless I wanted 20% off a new model. No thanks. No more Bissell. This has excellent reviews but I wish there were some way to filter reviews based on those written 6 months after purchasing and using an item. Should be recalled.
