This is a synthetic oil
I am on a fixed income, so when I saw the essential oil at on Amazon at such a great price, I was excited. I couldn't wait for the box to get to my home. When I opened the bottle and drop some of it on my hand, I discovered this is not an essential grading oil. This is a synthetic oil! This oil has a strange smell! I compared the odor of this oil to Dõterra's tea tree oil and Melaleuca. The scent in the bottle that I was sent, is not even slightly simular to either one of the other tea tree oils. I wish I had read the review, prior to buying this oil, where the reviewer was kind enough to suggest that we should read an article from the FTC. The article was in that reviewer's posting. I copied it and posted below.
From the FTC website article titled Advertising FAQ’s: A Guide for Small Business:
Under the Federal Trade Commission Act:
Advertising must be truthful and non-deceptive;
Advertisers must have evidence to back up their claims; and
Advertisements cannot be unfair.
Additional laws apply to ads for specialized products like consumer leases, credit, 900 telephone numbers, and products sold through mail order or telephone sales. And every state has consumer protection laws that govern ads running in that state.
From what I can deduce from this article and going by the FDA stance since there are no standards in U.S. regulations, laws or in any governing body for essential oils (manufacturing, grading, etc.) then YES a company can state their essential oil is 100% pure therapeutic grade without fearing impunity from the or FDA. Due to the FDA statement on its own website that, “The law treats ingredients from plants the same as those from any other source…” then as long as the chemical profile matches up to tea tree a company can put a synthetic tea tree in the bottle and pass it off to consumers.
Essential Oil Labs is taking advantage of labeling laws and many people are fooled into believing they’re purchasing a non-synthetic product. If you are needing the anti-bacterial properties of tea tree, you won’t find it here. If you are buying for the scent only and don’t mind chemicals, that’s what you’ll get in this bottle. Same with their other products.
