Badly in need of a good editor
I am up to about 80% of the book, but have been dismayed by so many grammatical and other errors. "Led" is the past tense of "lead." "Shone" is the past tense of "shine," not "shown." Early on, it was stated that the daughter was to arrive at the Newark airport, and the son at JFK. A few pages later the aunt was picking up the daughter at JFK. There seems to be confusion between the usage of breath and breathe. "She took deep, slow breathes of the stinky air." Then later "..and then go out in public and breath on people all afternoon." And the words peek and peels: "Pam opened it and peaked in at her baby sister." Then "Seeing the snack bag and fruit peals." Perhaps some quirkiness in the word processing application changed some of the words' spellings, but editorial oversight should have found and corrected those mistakes. But then there was the matter of grammatical errors: "Everything about she and Jack was on the table." You wouldn't say "Everything about she was on the table," now would you? And then "Marie's heart sunk." Past tense of sink is sank, not sunk. I could go on with more, but you get the point. These errors have been a major distraction to me. Reading this book has been a chore, and I felt embarrassment for the author. However, I just kept slogging through, and will finish reading it, but I had to make these comments.
