Does not work with Android!
I have seen a lot of people use this and loved it, so I decided to get one. Once I received the 360 camera I was impressed with how it felt in my hand, it has so mass to it and feels durable yet light weight. Now onto the first step that was to connect it to my phone and that's where all the issues start. So they don't really mention it in the description but this 360 camera is designed for iPhones and not Android, for Android you need a $30 adapter that only works for some phones. So anywho I download the app (which has a 2 star rating) and signed into it and try to connect it to my phone and it just won't connect, I tried it on 4 different phone and still nothing. So a few hour pass and I still don't have it connected so I did some research and finally figured out how to do it (instruction book is all for iPhone setup.) Here it is almost 3 hours into connecting it to my phone and I finally get it to work... But it won't show me anything that the camera is seeing or any photos or videos that I just took, so I read some more and found that the app only use is a remote for the basic controls only and another app is used to view the files BUT only after they are downloaded to a computer and transfered over to the phone. I start to play around with the app and as soon as I tell it to record it closes and won't reconnect to the camera until I turn the camera off and on again. I finally just game up on the app and used the one side button on the camera to take some photos and videos. So now I need to view them so I plugged the camera into my computer with the supplied cable and it can't find that camera so again back to the internet right away and learn that the port is for charge only and no file transfers, so I head down to buy a $30 micro SD reader to transfer the videos over to my PC and 6 hours in I can finally view them. After all this is done and I finally understand the basics of what I need to do and buy just to make it work I learn that it is not worth my time or effort, I really just wanted something simple that I could carry around in my packet and use when needed and then simply show off what I captured and not have to carry around my laptop, laptop charging cable, micro sd reader, camera charger cable or go out and buy a $300+ iPhone to get more control out of the camera and view the files on the phone. In the end I do not recommend this to any android user until they make some big changes to it.
Pros:
- sturdy design
- feels durable
- great photo and video quality
Cons:
- not android friendly
- cost extra to get the android adapter that only works with certain phones
- android app is terrible and pointless
- supplied USB cable will not transfer files to computer
- huge lack of instructions for Android in the book or website
