Don't waste your money; you've read this book a hundred times
First let me say, I actually enjoy watching Travis Stork on The Doctors, so even though I don't usually read diet books, I decided to read this one, because I thought he might have something new or interesting to say. He didn't. Zip. Nada. This book has been written a thousand times . . . and it has been better written a thousand times. Here are my main issues: One, the tone of the book is actually quite patronizing. In fact, I had to stop a few times and check the cover to make sure it wasn't written for children. I mean, come on - I'm a grown man - I don't need a doctor to refer to the bacteria in my gut as my "Little Buddies". Wow. That is just wrong, on so many levels. Two, I'm really concerned that a doctor in the US would recommend soy. US soy is NOT the same soy they eat in most Asian countries. Over 90% of the soy produced in the U.S. is genetically modified and the crops are sprayed with an herbicide, which may be associated with adverse effects on health, not to mention the soy itself having negative effects on the human body, especially men. Three, this book contained a number of spelling and grammatical errors. I expect that from a self-published book, but not from a known publisher. And finally, I feel like this book had a bit of a vegetarian agenda, even though he mentions that he occasionally eats meat. I have no problem with a vegetarian diet, but I do have a problem with a "new" diet book that basically tells you to eat more fruits and vegetables and less meat. This is the first "diet book" I have read in years . . . and it will definitely be my last.
