The good news is I can switch most of the devices ...
Initial capability was extremely impressive. It is well powered and allowed the wireless signal to reach much farther than my old router. It has worked flawlessly from when it arrived until about 3 weeks ago. The 2.4 GHz seemed to stop working for a couple of hours. My computers use the 5.0 GHz network and my kids iPads use the 2.4 GHz, so I did not notice it until they complained. The 2.4 GHz has now completely died and I am working with their technical support via email. The good news is I can switch most of the devices over to the 5.0 GHz until we get it fixed. I will post an update after I get it fixed.
Update 5-31-2017:
Prior to sending it back for the 2.4 GHz issue, the 5.0 GHz started having the same issue where it will completely go away for up to 10 minutes. ASUS provided an RMA, to fix both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz issues. The receipt provided by ASUS shows that they fixed the 2.4 GHz and mentioned nothing about the 5.0 GHz issue. Now that it is returned, the 5.0 GHz has stopped working. That was a waste of time! I am on the phone with them right now for another RMA. The last RMA took 3 weeks to get my router back because their shipping method was the cheapest one available to them. It took over a week just to get it there! I took the brand name of ASUS as a good quality router to replace my current router, but I believe I made a mistake. If you are researching for a new router, please consider this review and make sure you have a backup router for when this happens.
