The editor should be fired. (No spoilers)
This book...I seriously pray that the kindle version is some sort of unedited manuscript, because there are atrocious grammatical errors rampant throughout. It has pulled me out of the story continually, to the point where I don’t even know if I want to finish reading. I’m currently about halfway through and took the two yellow highlighted photos on the same page and had to stop to write this review. In case you do not see the issues: everyone refers to a group of people. Here the author is referring to houses. The word should be “every one” as in every house. And “well” is used to describe verbs, “skills” is a noun, so skills are not well. They are good. I wish I would have taken a picture of the numerous comma splices as well. The sentence “of course, not” appears twice. The only way that makes sense is if the speaker is making some sort of “sike” Borat joke, and I assure you, they are not. The plot is slightly interesting, but it’s as if the author wrote all the smutty parts and then pieced together a story around them. I’m a 28-year-old female, I don’t have a college degree let alone some advanced English degree, and yet I still find these mistakes blatant and clumsy. Words are repeated multiple times in the same sentences, it’s just a mess. I highly recommend reading the sample before you purchase the book to see if the stilted prose and grammatical errors are something you can get past. For me, they are not. I would not recommend this to a friend.
