She was a liar and a murderer
This book is awful - even worse than the other book she wrote - "Child of Satan, Child of God" back in the 1970's after she supposedly became a born-again Christian and "found God". I find it appalling that when she was arrested back in 1969 and told anybody who would listen that she participated in the Tate-LaBianca murders and showed absolutely NO remorse for what she and the others did. In fact, she laughed on the stand when she confessed to stabbing Sharon Tate because "she was sick and tired of listening to her beg and plead" for the life of her unborn child. Then, all of a sudden after she was convicted on all counts, sentenced to death and went to prison she had an "ephiphany" that God appeared in her cell and forgave her for what she did. Not only is this a total crock but it's insulting to the senseless slaughter of 7 human beings and Sharon Tate's unborn child which she willingly and glady took part in.
Ever since she supposedly became "born-again" she has changed her story constantly with regard to the murders and her part - trying to minimize her participation and saying that she was a bystander and didn't murder anyone. It is a documented fact that she took part in the murders that occured at the Tate residence and she had NO remorse for what she did. She was turned down for parole every time she had the nerve to apply - and the fact that she had the gall to even show up to face Sharon Tate's mother and sisters - all of whom saw right through her - was a slap in the face of justice. She was lucky that the California Supreme Court abolished the death penalty in 1972 and that she was spared the gas chamber and sentenced to life in prison.
In 2009 when Susan Atkins was dying of brain cancer she wanted to be granted clemency so that she could leave prison and die in peace. Considering the fact that she showed absolutely NO mercey to her victims - especially Sharon Tate - I found it ironic that she expected to be shown mercy by the parole board after the heinous crimes she committed. In the end, her attempt at trying to re-write history in order to make it appear that she didn't murder anyone was a complete and utter failure.
