Great mower, completely defeated by extremely undersized battery
Let me start by saying that I REALLY wanted to like this mower, since I'm a huge fan of the B&D 40V Max system on my string trimmer and hedge trimmer. However, the battery simply defeats what would otherwise be a good mower.
Let me start with the good: The ergonomics are quite good. The mower is comfortable to use and very light, and the height adjustment is dead simple and low effort. It's obvious that lot of work has gone into it.
However, the bad completely kills this. I wasn't able to finish the larger part of my FRONT yard (which is less than 1/16th acre) using BOTH batteries at full charge. I've attached photos. For reference, it had just rained the day before so the grass was slightly damp. However, I was cutting on height 6 (of 7, so nearly as high as it will go). The mower choked and completely died four or five times during cutting. Also, and you can see this from the other photos, the mower simply doesn't mulch. It drops huge clumps of cut grass directly down. I might as well have been using the side-discharge port.
I should point out too that if you're thinking that you can get through in stages, just by recharging partway through, note that when the batteries run out after mowing they are also overheated, which means that the charger will not charge them until they cool down. As of this writing, the batteries are still overheated and it's been an hour and a half since I put them on the charger, so figure on at least a three hour break including charging until you're ready to mow again, and that the mower only comes with a single-battery charger.
I simply can't recommend a mower that won't mow something that's the least bit difficult.
