Sadly lacking
The Marriage Bargain by Sandra Edwards just didn't deliver anything that a good book should. The storyline is rushed and the farther into the book, the more rushed the story becomes. It seems like the author became tired of the project early on and just wanted to finish it.
The characters are poorly developed and are not true to their description. For example, the author tells the reader that Camille is an honor student, yet the character's vocabulary and intellect don't mirror that promise. Things are thrown into the book for no apparent reason and are not believable. For example, about half way through the book, Ms. Edwards just throws out the statement that Camille is a virgin but she presents the character as anything but that in the book. When someone has never been with a man, they would not be comfortable walking around a near stranger and his employee, wearing nothing but a silk robe. She has supposedly gone through college and some time after that without being physically intimate and then she thinks nothing of a business arrangement "with benefits." Nothing in this book is believable.
