★☆☆☆☆
Atrociously bad...
I call ... shenanigans on all these 5-star reviews. They're incredibly misleading. This book was so bad I didn't make it past the fifty percent mark on my Kindle and I felt dumber for having even made it that far. To call the plot-half baked would be an insult to tasty baked goods everywhere. The story achieved the dubious distinction of being banal, improbable, confused and outlandishly ambitious all at the same time. I won't spoil it for anyone who likes that in their fiction but I certainly would have preferred a bit more effort. Characterization? What characterization? These protagonists are clumsily created stereotypical caricatures -- the males are all alphas who are rabidly, offensively misogynistic (why? That's never really conveyed) and the women are weak-willed and idiotic to the point that I wonder how they remember to breathe. Pacing is poor, and some of the ridiculous twists nearly gave me whiplash. Grammar and language needed the keen attention of an editor. Beware. I only paid 99 cents for it so I guess I'm not out much but I'll never get back the time I put into reading it.
