There is a possibility that the dye used in this product causes tumors in hummingbirds. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but why take a chance? It's so easy to make the nectar yourself. I use 1/4 cup sugar to one cup filtered water and I mix up a 6 cup batch that I just stick in the frig. I have 3 different hummingbird feeders and have hummingbirds feed all day long.
