Unusably unreliable - avoid
TL:DR: After suffering through two of these terrible players, I gave up and ordered a Panasonic UB820.
The X800M2 seems to be a dream player on paper - relatively inexpensive, support for Dolby Vision, nice build quality. Unfortunately it is hobbled by completely unreliable playback behavior, even with the latest firmware installed. I suffered repeated and random (meaning not at the same spot on the disc) freezes whenever I played a BD-100 (100GB capacity UHD blu-ray) disc: The Dark Knight, Pacific Rim, and Mission Impossible: Fallout all exhibited freezes during playback that required a player reset. When this happened with my first X800M2 I figured I had a bad unit and returned it for a replacement. Then the second unit came and exhibited the exact same behavior. It's going back to Amazon next week. I am replacing it with a Panasonic UB820.
The X800M2's sole reason for being is to serve as a dedicated playback device for 4K blu-rays. Given my experience it is absolutely not fit for purpose. Avoid at all costs.
