I bought another Panasonic phone for my father, but it was not loud enough. So I bought this one, hoping that it would be louder. No such luck. My wife and I both tried it and we both thought it was just too low in volume, even for us. You can boost the low frequencies or the high frequencies, but not both. The speaker phone was both loud and clear, but my father does not use that feature. I just do not understand why they cannot amplify the handset volume more; it is not rocket science. Just have 20 or so different settings for the volume; not just 5. We returned it after one day. Update: For those also struggling to find a good loud phone, I just received the new Panasonic KX-TGM420 phone with amplification. It has most of the same features as this reviewed phone but is MUCH louder, and can be made even louder by using the Boost feature. It seems great, although it is at least double the price.
