This is our second ComposTumbler. The first one rusted through in about 2 years (live in CA). But it was so easy for me to use that we bought a second one. They are very expensive so I would really like it to last. After 5 years, again, it has rusted out even though I carefully followed the instructions so the inside would not get too wet. So we will have to throw this one away as well. I don't like throwing away several hundred dollars every few years so we will not buy another even though it works extremely well. There is no reason the company could not make the tumbler out of the same hard plastic as the sides which would make this product perfect. So, I would not recommend buying one of these until they fix the rusting problem unless you have money to throw away.
