Unfortunately not worth $200.
I have been a fan of LP for over 15 years, so this review is based off of a longterm fan. To cut it nice and short, this isn't worth $200. Pros: The box itself is as sturdy as I hoped. It comes with a lovely golden reflective on top. There are slots inside for every formatted item. The book inside has thick sturdy pages in half color, and is as big as a record. The poster is thicker than I expected, and was as small as I thought it would be around, though I hoped it was bigger considering they displayed it at the center piece of the advertising mockup photo and was a little deceptive to believe it was at least twice its size. It comes with a digital download code for "audio tracks from this box set" (I have no idea if it's all of it yet). Cons: The book isn't in full color. They decided to use a lot of black and white ink to save on costs on their end. It's mostly pictures and hardly any words or "band interviews" as the description and sticker shows as well. I overall favor photos over dialog, however in this case I would've appreciated both equally but it fell short. The poster is much smaller than expected to most as I've already mentioned. The CD's don't come in jewel cases, but paper slip covers and all of the CD designs are mostly black with white lettering. No effort present there. Everything is blurry and pixelized, meaning it wasn't correctly formatted for its size. The DVD's aren't remastered in Blu-ray at all. I personally would've liked both the original formats and remastered at hand for comparison, another feature they decided to look over. The vinyl aren't a true 180g as their flashy description says as well, my scale reads around 165g. They don't come with any booklets, lyrics, or even photos on the record sleeves or jackets. It does come with black and white paper slip, but it mostly contains credits and legal statements. Something else not in color. A personal note would've been I wish they had colored variants for the records. The cassette was white and of course cheaply made. If you accidentally drop a hardcover novel in it, it would shatter to shreds, and only comes with 2 songs as a sampler. I understand why they would want to keep it authentic, but adding bonus songs won't hurt anyone. The Projekt Revolution laminate doesn't come with a lanyard. The vinyl gatefolds themselves are of thin cardboard quality and I'm already seeing various reviews of it skipping, so the audio quality doesn't make up for it. Overall, for a "limited edition (number unknown, units are still being sold so it's by the thousands) super deluxe 20th anniversary edition" you would've expected to come with everything with quality in a bundle for $200. That's a month's room rent or a car payment to some people, but it does not include everything in all formats in that expected quality. The B-Side Rarities record is not included in this bundle and must be purchased separately from their vinyl box set on the same 20th anniversary edition which you sadly have to fork over another $60+ for, which I have. With shipping and taxes in America that rounds to $300 just for an extra record they didn't include. They have also advertised this included "never before seen footage", however just about every track and live performance was leaked or fully uploaded themselves online many years ago. They even had a recent event to pay for a prerecorded (that was advertised as live) virtual ticket of a Q+A that only answered about 5 questions that us the fans that paid for, didn't get to ask, and shown the NV Projekt Revolution concert from '02 that was leaked over 10 years ago that is included in this boxset. It was also mislead to think that us the modern ticket buyers to a concert that OG fans paid for 18 years ago had to opportunity to ask live at least a handful of Q+A's. It was mixed with that modern session, but as stated, was pre-recorded apparently answered by unpaid random "fans" on a social media website prior without any clear notice, fully knowing the sheer deception with their promised description. I calculated everything included and rounded up the price, despite the quality potential difference in pricing, and there are no bundle savings here. LP is infamous for having overpriced merchandise with oftentimes slacking quality with them. The only reason I have decided to purchase and keep this as a customer is because Linkin Park has been my first and favorite band since circa '03. I have been with them for essentially every step of the way commerically and continue to be a "loyal" fan, as some would say, however I need to be realistic to myself and give honesty to other fans regardless of their time with LP as a paying customer on this product. Overall, again, yes I'm disappointed on how this turned out for the price. I believe a fair price range would be $100-$150 (price changed from $150-$75) at most. And as much as this hurts to say, I can't overall recommend this unless you are a diehard lifer like me. Times are difficult now more than ever for our generation and this material is all free online as is for those who are less fortunate. I barely was after dropping almost all of my savings for this. I let others make reviews first, but I wanted to deeply inspect the boxset before I submitted my most honest and fair review. I will always support physical media, but when the quality itself is in its worse decline and the price tag raising higher; let your bank account and sense of awareness be the judge of this large purchase and not to let nostalgia blind you from the facts unfolded.
