Degrades picture quality and produces low bitrate output
Very disappointing product. This capture card produces 5 Mbps bit rate output at best, and degrades the pass-through signal. Not worth your time at all. You would be much better off buying an Elgato! I should have known better than to buy this product for several reasons: 1) There is very conspicuously no mention of the bit rate this device is capable of outputting anywhere on the page, in the answered questions, or in the other reviews. If you find any in the future, it will have been added after this review was written. The speeds listed in the specifications and product images are ratings for the different USB standards themselves, NOT the actual capture bit rate. The seller does list the resolution as being 1920x1080 @ 60fps. This is accurate, but again, this does not tell you anything about the bit rate! 2) There is no link to the manufacturers website, and the brand name is not displayed prominently/is obfuscated by walls of text. 3) Most of the questions asked or the reviews posted seem to be written by people who were not using the device for the intended use case (capturing video). Some were not using the product themselves, and some do not seem to know what they were talking about. As mentioned above, this device degrades the pass-through signal very noticeably. When placing this device between a computer and a monitor, colors look washed up, sharpness is decreased, and everything looks generally duller. When recording with this device I tested many settings, and many different bit rates. The output video quality was VERY poor, and any bit rate setting above 5 Mbps looked the same. The recorded video is very visibly damaged from heavy compression, almost to the point of looking like VHS. For comparison, the lowest tier Elgato capture device has a bit rate of 40 Mbps! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
