First, let me say I've owned several Gerber knives and machetes over the years, and regularly recommend their products. I chose the Gerber Shard based on a review of a similar item that recommended the Shard over the other product. Sadly, it does not live up to tradition of quality and utility shared by other Gerber products. Much of the problem is in the size: the bottle opener can work if you want to spend the necessary time and effort on it. Personally, it was on the 2nd bottle that I gave up and got my Gerber Obsidian from the other room and used the good bottle opener it has. The little "pry bar" /nail puller is not only too small to be effective, but in the included "manual" /safety warnings sheet it actually tells you not to attempt using it to pry things. Last, one look at the Phillips screwdriver head will tell you it's not going to work (I didn't bother trying the flat head screwdriver blade). After a week I pulled it off my keyring and threw it in the junk drawer. It was cheap enough it's not worth spending the time and money to return it, but if you want a decent pocket multi-tool, in my opinion the Gerber Shard is not the one you want. Gerber is a good brand, but this is not a good Gerber.
