Leaves residue, bad lather, bad value when compared to other 'luxury' soaps
I've been using Baxter of California exfoliating bar soap for about a year, but at $17/bar, I thought I'd check out the competition to save myself money (and the feeling of being a sucker for spending that much on a bar of soap). While there may be comparable offerings out there for less than the $17/bar of Baxter, this soap isn't it– not by a long shot. Leaves a pretty bad film on your skin. When you're done rinsing, running a finger down your forearm does that squeaky/catch-on-your-skin thing. And no, that's not a clean feeling– it's the soap completely stripping your skin and leaving a residue behind. Not a good lather at all, either. Smell is subjective, so I won't comment on that, but the power of the scent is good. At $2/oz (currently $10 for a 5oz bar), it's just not worth it when you can get a MUCH better product in Baxter for $2.4/oz (currently $17 for a 7oz bar). If you've already decided to make the jump from those awful (but cheap) body wash products, I'd recommend playing the field a bit. Try this soap, sure, but try others to see what works best for your skin and what you ultimately value in your soap.
