Ok. This is just ok to me... From the myriad beautiful antique images From the Victorian era, they’ve chosen mostly the odd and bizarre for this book. How many evil clowns, grimacing people and animals, animals with human heads, uncute/phallic animals (a sea cucumber? really?), witches, bats, snakes, hot air balloons and Egyptian images do you need? I’m a marine biologist and even I can’t imagine using the pages and pages of siphonophores, corals, amphipods, squids, etc in this book. What do those unrecognizable stickers do for your creations? Yes there are birds, shells, mushrooms, flowers and other pretty—even awesome—stickers but my point is that far too many are weird, angry-looking or unrecognizable things that I don’t know when I’ll use. On top of that, rather than white the stickers are printed on pastel colored pages. When you use the stickers, the background color “frames” the stickers (unless you trim it away). For me that’s a negative. Hopefully volume two can be more focused on the beautiful images from the Victorian era rather than the strange and creepy bent of this book.
