Enthusiatically purchased this B&D vacuum a few months ago for my wife. It was not even opened for a couple of months because the she already had a handheld vacuum. Finally talked her into trying it. She then used it lightly for a couple of weeks at most, when suddenly one of the pump internals broke and blocked the flow. Pump speed went way up to a whine and flow was cut way back. Called Amazon, who said their short guarantee was expired, but that they would call me next day and get on the phone with me to B&D to see what they could do. Never called. Same thing a few weeks later: Amazon rep said she would call me a couple of days later and get on the phone with me to B&D to see what they could do. Never called. Conclusion: What could have been a good hand-held vacuum, well-designed, is useless because B&D used cheap plastic or a forming process with poor quality control. The vacuum sits in a corner until I can get a moment free to get inside of it, for curiosity's sake, and see what was broken. I suspect that it is unfixable.
