NOT FOR NON-SQUATTING CATS. Ugh. I'm SO frustrated. My cat is a PITA and refuses to squat to pee. Hes almost 12 and has been neutered since he was 4 months old and he has peed out of every single litter box I've tried. We eventually just went to a storage tote with a hole cut out of it, but I decided to see if cat boxes had finally been designed to stop this problem of leaking urine. Apparently not. This one not only doesn't catch the urine, but it streamlines it straight down the side and it ALL drips right out the front corner. Its sitting in a puddle of cat urine AGAIN. To be fair, the main attraction to this box is its size, and this one IS huge. Its one of the only boxes that my 16 pound cat (hes tall, not fat) can actually fit in easily and turn around in. And I LOVE the flip top part that the filter sits in, it really makes it so much easier to clean it every day. I dont think the filter helps with the smell though, but I think that has more to do with my cat not covering his business and peeing up the side than it does with the filter's effectiveness. So I'm sure it does help for some cats. The rest of the box is awesome. The size, design of the flip top for easier cleaning, the nice shape and easy clips, but the fact that it doesn't work for standing pee-ers means it doesn't work at all for us. Just beware, this is NOT the box if you have a hi-rise urinator.
