Disappointed, and my cats might mutiny
I wanted to love this food dispenser. Having two high maintenance cats who act as though they’ve been abused and starved if they can see any part of the bottom of the food dish (never mind that there’s still plenty of food left), I thought this was the perfect solution. Fill up the nifty plastic cylinder, let the cats eat, and trust gravity to do the rest. But, alas... no. Allow me to enumerate the reasons why I regularly curse this product:
1) Gravity is great. And yes, food will fall to the bottom. But - the dish isn’t angled so that it falls all the way into the bowl. It just becomes an empty dish with a still mostly full container. Result: howling cats
2) The bottom twists off, and so does the top. I’m a grown woman who is of at least average intelligence, and I cannot count the number of times I’ve tried to twist off the top, accidentally twisted off the bottom as well, and ended up with a giant pile of cat food on the carpet. Result: happy cats and cursing cat owner
3) Being the inventive woman that I am, I recently tried to put a book under the back to create a bit of a ramp so that food would slide into the bowl as needed. (For anyone wondering - I went with Rick Steve’s Great Britain Travel Guide - both beefy and disposable.) I quickly realized that my DIY gravity helper didn’t do much besides encourage the top heavy contraption to tip on its side, leaving the food still inside the not so nifty cylinder. Result: two cats who might murder me in my sleep.
