The bento box is well made but has design flaws. There's no lid separating the bottom tray from the top tray, just the top tray itself. So it the container tilts or flips upside down, the bottom of the top container gets dirty. This means you cannot place the top container down unless you clean the bottom of the container doesn't remain upright (if you notice). 2nd problem, since there's no lid for the bottom container, you can't take it with you by itself. 3rd: you cannot microwave the bottom container unless you take the food out of the metal container and out it in the blue plastic that holds it or another plate or bowl. And of course after heating your food, you have to wash the blue box before putting the metal box back in it. 4th problem goes with the 2nd, you can only secure the bento if you use all the units together because the locking mechanism needs the metal tray with it's blue rubber holder. Not sure if I am keeping this (unfortunately I purchased 2). The purpose is to make bringing my lunch to work an easy chore, not waste time cleaning each compartment twice.
