BUYER BEWARE
I purchased this honey from this vendor a couple of weeks ago and have been using it on a burn. It seemed like such a "good buy" compared to other manuka honey's with the umf label from a licensed company in NZ that I ordered a second jar to keep on hand. I cancelled that second order last night after reading numerous new articles(less than 3 days old)regarding fake manuka honey. The articles state the honey producers in NZ produce 1700 tons a year, yet as much as 10,000 tons are sold worldwide, suggesting widespread fraud. I contacted Haddrell's of Cambridge and asked if the distributor listed on the label, Clotho Corp., is indeed one of their distributors. The sales manager Jocelyn Doyle informed me, Haddrell's had NOT SHIPPED honey to them since 2007. There is no license# or batch# on the label. I believe it is up to amazon and/or the vendor to confront the distributor as to the source of this so called umf manuka honey. I can purchase ordinary raw honey for $8.49 at my local health store, a 10 minute walk from my house. Paying $40.00 for it makes my blood boil. What a scam!! I did my due diligence and purchased what I believed to be the real thing. But unscrupulous people no how to beat the system. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I use to think buying from amazon was safe. Not anymore.
