I loved this bird feeder and had it for a few years. The birds loved it too. Easy to clean, it also holds a lot of food. Unfortunately, I'm posting this review to warn users about the ornamental scroll design at the base of the chains. One of the birds suffered a freak accident while feeding, and I want users to be aware of the potential (however slight) for injury. This morning I went out to feed the birds and found a black capped chickadee dead in the feeder. His wing had somehow become stuck in the scrolling. It looked like when he tried to get the wing out he ended up instead impaling his wing on the metal. Based on the feathers all over the ground, the blood in the food, and his sprawled out body, he suffered horribly before dying. It was difficult to extricate his body from the scrolling. As I said, this had always been a great feeder. This was a really freak accident. But I wanted to alert other people to the issue just so no one else has an experience like this. If you do purchase this feeder, please use a pair of pliers to close up the scrolling to prevent little wings from getting stuck in the ornamentation.
